Sara A. Lamb Kistler

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sara A. Lamb Kistler, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and dedicated educator. Sara was born on August 1, 1953, and passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Sara was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Doris Lamb, and her beloved husband, Thomas “Tucker” Kistler. She is survived by her devoted sisters and brothers: Joseph Lamb; Madelyn Koziol (Rudolph); Daniel Lamb (Carol); Steven Lamb; and Teresa Harding (William). She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephew: Suzanne, Emily, Tara, Danielle, Stephanie, Amanda, Brittany, and William, as well as her many cherished grand nieces and known affectionately as “Sally” since her childhood, Sara’s educational journey began at Resurrection of Our Lord School and continued at Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA, where she graduated with the Class of 1971. Her passion for learning led her to West Chester University, where as an undergraduate she majored in Spanish and earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts.

Sara dedicated her professional life to education, beginning her career as a public school teacher while earning a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Delaware. She then transitioned to higher education, sharing her knowledge and passion at the University of Delaware, Widener University, and ultimately returning to West Chester University, where she served in the department of education until her passing. As the Associate Chair and Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs at West Chester, Dr. Sara Lamb Kistler found immense joy in teaching pre-service teachers and supervising student teachers in local schools. She embraced the responsibility of shaping the future of education by providing invaluable support and guidance to aspiring educators, empowering them to effectively meet the diverse needs of their students. Her impact and legacy will continue to flourish through the countless students whose lives she touched.

Sara’s personal life was enriched when she met her beloved husband, Tucker, while working at Widener University. Their meeting was serendipitous, and she often spoke of him walking into her office as the moment she found the love of her life. They shared a deep and abiding love, and she is now reunited with him for eternity.

With unwavering dedication, Sara poured her energy into her family, her friends, and her meaningful career, remaining a steadfast and loyal presence in their lives until her passing. A true academic at heart, Sara possessed a deep love for research and was known for her thorough investigations into topics that piqued her interest or that could help those around her. She prioritized knowledge, particularly in the areas of health and wellness. Above all, Sara will be remembered for her remarkable generosity, her genuine ability to connect with others, and her thoughtful sharing of trinkets and insights on shared interests. She was a gifted listener, offered wise counsel, and was a loyal and cherished friend who will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5th at 11:30am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market Street, Linwood, PA.  Friends and family are invited for visitation from 10:30-11:30am.  Burial will follow in the Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood PA.
