Gloria (Clough) Paterson, 75, of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Riddle Hospital surrounded by her children.

She was born January 19, 1951, in Albany, New York, to the late Frederick and Elsie (Robell) Clough. They moved to Philadelphia when Gloria and her brother, Frederick, were young. Gloria later moved to Delaware County where she planted her own roots.

She held many different jobs over the years, most recently cleaning homes, though her work did not define her. Gloria will forever be remembered as the heart of our family, always anticipating the needs of others before her own. She never missed the chance to show her loved ones how much she loved them. She was genuinely selfless with a truly beautiful soul.

She was deeply rooted in her faith; a cherished member of St. John Fisher Church where she rarely missed weekend Mass. She loved to spend time catching up with her loved ones, going for long walks, playing board games, soaking up the sun, and sending text messages full of red heart emojis (after spending many years insisting she would never learn how to text).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Elsie (Robell) Clough; partner, Thomas Smith Sr.; and daughter-in-law, Anne Marie Scarpato.

She is survived by her brother, Frederick Clough; children, Donald Paterson (Anne Marie), Joyce Daniels (Aubrey), Frederick Smith (Dana), and Thomas Smith Jr. (Lauren); grandchildren, Erica, Alissa, Adelyne, and Carter; and beloved “fur grandchildren”, Blue, Peaches, Brie, Diesel, Hero, and JoJo.

Her funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10am, at St. John Fisher Church (4225 Chichester Avenue, Boothwyn, Pennsylvania 19061). Friends and family are invited for visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in Church.  Burial will be private.
