Joseph F. Mullaney

Joseph F. Mullaney, 90, of Linwood passed away peacefully on February 8th at his home.  He was born and raised in Chester to the late Thomas and Catherine Mullaney.  Joe was a graduate of St. James High School with the class of 1954.  After graduation, he joined the US Air Force with whom he served during the Korean War.  He went on to work at both the Chester Shipyard and Chichester School District in the maintenance department.  He also maintained and cleaned the Lower Chichester Municipal Building for many years.

He was an avid fan of NASCAR.  He also enjoyed time spent at the beach on the boardwalk, going to yard sales and dancing.  Joe loved to bake and was a long-time member of the cookie cutters club.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 4 siblings.  He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Susan Mullaney; 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

His funeral services and burial will be private

  1. On behalf of the St. James Catholic High School Alumni Association, I extend our deepest sympathies and prayers on your loss. On May 3, 2026, the Alumni Association will remember Joseph at their annual Memorial Mass at St. Madeline’s Church in Ridley Park. May he rest in peace!
