Edith Giosio Brown, 102, died Tuesday September 15th at Bryn Mawr hospital. Born in Kennett Square, PA to Angelo and Mary D’Angelis Giosio where she was reared and educated. She attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School and Kennett Square High School. Edith began her career as an operator for the Bell telephone Co. in Kennett Square, PA. She then worked in the banking industry in Marketing department. After a few years she, and her partners, opened the Longwood Villa nursing home in Bethel Township, PA. which they operated for approximately 25 years before her retirement in 1987. During her lifetime Edith was a faithful member of St. Patricks’ Catholic Church in Kennett Square, as well as St. Agnes and St. Maximilian Kolbe Churches both located in West Chester, PA.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her infant brother Mario Giosio, brother Angelo Giosio, sister Marie Bruno and her husband Al Bruno, brother Emedio {Davey} Giosio. Her daughter Katherine Cotgreave, a son James Cotgreave and a niece Maria Bruno.
Edith is survived by one daughter Anne {Gerry} Remaley with whom Edith made her home in Thornton, PA , five grandchildren: Claire Larson, Amy Diamond {Josh}, John Cotgreave, Gerard Remaley Jr. {Tori}, Lauren Coleman {Doug}, six great-grandchildren: Jack Larson, Alayna Diamond, Kiera Diamond, Bailey Vargas, Alysandra Remaley and Alexis Coleman, her niece Gina Beaudoin {Greg} and Michael and Lisa Bruno, and beloved sister-in-law Sandy Giosio.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday September 22nd at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church 15 E. Pleasant Grove Rd. West Chester, PA 19382 where there will be calling from 10A.M. to 11A.M. at the church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s cemetery Kennett Square, PA. Donations in Edith’s name may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe School.
