Robert L. Hinchliffe-Hawkins 89, of Elwyn, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 15, 2026.

Born on May 5, 1937 in Chester, PA, Robert was the son of the late George and Elsie (Hawkins) Hinchliffe. He was raised in Trainer, PA and moved to Elwyn in 1994 where he made many friends with the residents as well as staff.

He worked at a vocational center and occupational training center and enjoyed working at his many workshops. He transferred to Miller Hall senior program, where he took part in activities such as arts and crafts, bingo, music, and community outings.

Robert loved everyone and enjoyed being around people, especially his family. He was very social and always wanted to know how everyone was doing and frequently asked if they were married.  Whenever he met someone, he would extend his hand to shake theirs. He was a very smart man with an amazing memory.

Robert loved singing, going to church, eating at restaurants, attending parties, and enjoying the train and buggy rides in Lancaster. Robert loved to dress up for Halloween and hand out candy to the trick n treaters. These were some of the things that brought him joy.

He was a wonderful brother and uncle. He was sweet, kind, and caring, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

We are sad that he is no longer here with us, but we find comfort in knowing that he is in Heaven with Jesus and reunited with all of his family members who went before him. We look forward to the day when we will see him again and be together with him in Heaven.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother James (Sonny) Hinchliffe, his sisters Nancy Hickey and Alberta (Bertie) Hinchliffe, and his brothers-in-law Michael Hickey and Bill Dunn and Jim Jester.

He is survived by his sisters Elsie Dunn, Vera (Jim) Liott, Connie (Rocco) Richardson, Dottie (Bob) Stanton and sister-in-law Yong Sun Lee (Sue). He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, and 6 great-great nephews.

Services will be held at 7pm on Thursday October 22, 2026 at Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA. Viewing will be from 6-7pm. Burial will be on Thursday, October 29 at 11am in Lawncroft Cemetery.
