Joseph E. Batog – 9/29/2020

Joseph E. “Jiggs”Batog, Sr. , 96, of Trainer passed away at his home on September 29th, 2020 surrounded by his family.  Joe was a veteran of the United States Army with whom he served during WWII.  He fought in combat in Normandy, the Rhineland, and all across central Europe.  He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European, African, and Middle East Service Medals and 5 Bronze Stars. He was self-employed as a flooring installer for over 30 years.   He enjoyed going to the casino and playing poker.  He also liked to take vacations with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Hinterlong Batog; Children, John Batog (Jaye), Joseph Batog (Patty), and Michele Myers (Mark); grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Jessica, Jenifer, Jodie, Joey, Julia, Alyssa, Emily, and Jason; great-grandchildren, Tim, Ryan, Leah, Lily, Maura, Ella, Livia, and Julian.  His funeral services and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the American Legion at https://www.members.legion.org/tal/donatenow#legion-org

  1. To the Batog Family- our condolences and prayers. A great life for a great man, truly one of our greatest generation, we will miss seeing his smile and talking with him at the family parties. Chris and Jenn Murphy and kids.
