Doris (Dottie) June Kulakowski (nee Hutchinson) 90, born January 2, 1935, in Wilmington, Delaware, was sent to her eternal home on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Dottie, in her early career, worked as a Secretary for DuPont School District in Delaware. She worked as a waitress at a diner on the Rehoboth Boardwalk in Delaware and went by the nickname of “Daisy Mae”. She later became a homemaker.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Hutchinson and Louise Nicholson, her daughters, Candice Sparklin (Harry), and Margaret Powell-Caton (John). Doris’ siblings included Robert Nicholson (Connie), Stanley Nicholson (Diane), and Will Hutchinson.
Dottie is survived by her three loving daughters: Marlene Powell Sargent (Edward) of Marcus Hook, Bonnie Kulakowski of Marcus Hook, and Melody Kulakowski-Scavicchio (Dominick Jr.) of Garnet Valley.
Grandchildren: Harry Sparklin, John Sparklin, JR Powell, Jim Dzedze, Nicole Sargent, Edward Sargent Jr., Christopher Sargent, Tina Gattone, Fabiana Scavicchio-Fields, Cecily Scavicchio-Tomeo, Dominick Scavicchio III, Alfredo Rivera and many great grandchildren.
Dottie, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Those who knew Dottie will remember her for her infectious smile and her way with words, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. She loved dancing and singing to Elvis songs and thrifting her favorite finds. Watching the Eagles on TV was her favorite past time.
The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Doris June Kulakowski will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Ward Funeral Home in Linwood, PA. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 6-7pm. Service will follow at 7pm. Burial will be private.
