Thomas V. McLaughlin, Jr. – 3/2/2023

Thomas V. McLaughlin, Jr.,81, passed away on March 2nd at Chester County Hospital.  He was born in Chester and raised in Marcus Hook.  Tommy was a graduate of St. James High School with the class of 1960.  He owned and operated Lefty’s Bar in Marcus Hook.  Tommy was a veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.  He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Philadelphia/Oakland A’s.  He was also a multi-sport athlete throughout his life and was scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates Organization.  He played on several softball teams, and later enjoyed watching softball games at the fields in Marcus Hook.  Tommy was a member of the American Legion post 660 and the Marcus Hook Old Timer’s Association and was awarded their Man of the Year Award.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Rita McLaughlin; brother-in-law, Thomas Coyle; sister, Theresa Leonetti.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary McLaughlin; Children, Shawn McLaughlin (Kieran McMahon), Erin McLaughlin (Pearse McAleese), Thomas V. McLaughlin, III, Shannon McLaughlin, and Brian McLaughlin; grandchildren, Niamh McLaughlin-McAleese, Tara McMahon, Aidan McLaughlin, Aine McLaughlin-McAleese, Sean McLaughlin-McAleese, Kathleen McMahon, Roisin McLaughlin-McAleese, Caitlyn Mclaughlin-Gomez; siblings, Mary Coyle, Anita Kennedy and Joseph McLaughlin.

His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 11am at St. Mary Magdalene Church 2400 N. Providence Rd. Media, Pa 19063.  Friends and family are invited for visitation from 9:30-11am in Church.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia at https://give2.chop.edu/

  8. Please know that we are all thinking of you. Though it may be hard to feel in the midst of such pain, please know that you are surrounded by love and support. We will all miss Tommy enormously. I Sheeky, Brian and I have been holding you close in our thoughts since hearing of your loss.

  9. Tommy was one of the most selfless men I have ever met. He would give you the shirt off his back. I can’t count how many people he helped out including myself. The world lost a great man. R.I.P my friend. My deepest condolences to the McLaughlin family and to all the friends that will miss him.
