Betty J. Skrobak

April 14th, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Jean Skrobak, 89, announce her passing on April 11, 2025.  She was born on September 3, 1935  in Pottsville, Pennsylvania to James and Victoria (nee Marocco) Gardner.  She was a 1953 graduate of Pottsville High School.  Later that year she married Wendell and they started their family shortly after that.  Betty, also known as Liz to many of her friends, was a waitress for many years.  She seemed to have a special gift for meeting and speaking with people.  But her favorite “job” was to be Mom and Nanny to her family.  She was an amazing cook, and she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.  She was also an avid traveler and always enjoyed learning about new cultures and people around the world.  She will be greatly missed.  Betty is survived by her sons, Stephan and David.  Her daughter, Sharon Marcin (David).  She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.  Also many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Debra, her husbands Wendell Skrobak and John Prendergast, her sister Delores Hittinger, and brothers James Jr., Joseph, Harold, Frederick, and Robert.  A special thank you to all of the staff at Cadia Broadmeadow in Middletown, Delaware, for their loving care and support during Betty’s stay.  The family would like to invite you to celebrate her life on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Saint John Fisher Church in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania.  The viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am.  Burial will be at Lawn Croft cemetery in Linwood, Pennsylvania immediately following mass.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association

  3. Sharon, I was so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family! RIP, Liz..🙏Gloria (Michele’s mom)

  4. Growing up across the street I was at your home as much as my own. She’d yell at me for drinking her diet soda and later her liquor which she kept locked in the closet in her bedroom. She lovingly (i think) called me “pain in the ass” as I was always at your door. She’d pick us up from Spinning Wheels on Friday nights after a long shift at the Tally Ho!! and begrudgingly invited me along on family trips to Wildwood & the Poconos. I felt like part of the family. Love & blessings.

  5. Always enjoyed visits with Aunt Bette. They were always filled with great cooking and lots of laughs. To the family : “May your happy memories give you peace and comfort during this sorrowful time
