Barbara A. Stant, nee Howley, 86, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, December 23rd at Accent Care Hospice. She was born in Chester to the late Edward and Dorothy Howley. Barbara worked for many years as a telephone operator. Barbara liked going to the casino and the horse races. She also liked playing Chumba, LCR, and card games. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed taking trips to Daytona Beach, bowling and making ceramics. What she loved most, however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Stant, Sr. (2001); sisters, Clare Zimmer, Faith Howley, and Merri Ellen Howley; brother, Drew Howley.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Milnes (Dave), Barbara Berg (Brad), Annette Dawson (Chuck), and Mary Klock (Rocky); sons, David Stant, Jr. and Edward Stant (Elizabeth); 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28th at 11am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA. Friends and family are invited to her viewing from 10-11am. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara’s name to a charity of choice.

We have been friends with Barb and family for over 63 years. She was a great woman and wonderful mother to her children. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was always looking to have fun. We offer our deepest condolences to her family members. May God bless her.
I am so glad I had the pleasure of knowing her. She had the greatest support system I have ever seen and will be greatly missed by so many. Happy Chumba Day in heaven mom mom!!
She is in a better place I will certainly miss her but I know she’s in good hands and no pain.
