Joan Denise Mest, age 70, of Claymont, DE passed away on Saturday, July 13th at Cristiana Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret Killmon. She moved to Eddystone, PA as a young child and graduated from Ridley High School with the Class of 1972. She was married to the late George W. Mest III for 14 years until his passing in 1987.
Denise had a passion for taking care of others, which led her to a 40+ year career in nursing. As an LPN she worked at the Manchester House, Naamans Creek Country Manor, Bryn Mawr Extended Care Center, and Broomall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Denise was an avid reader and loved romance novels. She watched police dramas in her spare time and loved to travel. She relished her time as a youth spending summers with family at Silver Beach, Exmore, VA. The highlight of her travels included trips to Savannah, GA with her sister, Las Vegas, NV with her daughter and excursions to Canada, Bermuda, and Israel.
Rest in Peace Denise, and know our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. 🙏
May all who mourn the loss of Denise, find peace and comfort with their memories of her and may those memories be a blessing.
May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
My dearest friend.
Rest in peace

My thoughts and prayers go out to Jackie and Denise’s family. I worked with Denise closely when she worked in Bryn Mawr we shared an office and a lot of laughs. She was a wonderful nurse and a very kind and loyal friend. Heaven truly gained another Angel. RIP Denise you were a shining light in so many lives.
A good person gone too soon. May she be at peace in her heavenly home.
Sincere condolences to the family.
My big sis. My first friend. My family is smaller now but richer for having Denise in our lives.
