William J. Brown, 88 of the Boothwyn section of Upper Chichester died Wednesday April 11th, 2012 at Naamans Creek Country Manor. Born in Chester to Frank C. and Annie Kirkpatrick Brown. He was reared and educated in the Boothwyn section of Upper Chichester, graduating from the former Boothwyn High School with the class of 1941.

An auto mechanic for the Luke Motors Corp. in Chester for 38 years before his retirement in 1985. As a U.S. Army veteran of WWII he served as a military policeman with the 106th Infantry . He participated in four campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge.

He enjoyed fishing and boating and time spent at Ocean City, MD. A motorcycle enthusiast and also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.

Predeceased by his wife of 57 years Berneice Snyder Brown who died in 2000. Survived by one daughter Carol Riberio {AL} and one son William H. {Helen} Brown of Garnet Valley. Two grand-daughters Terri {Tom} Grant and Kimberly Getz both of Upper Chichester.

His funeral service will be 11am Monday at the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood where there will be calling from 9:30 to 11. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery Linwood.
