Thomas M. Stephens Jr., 61, died Tuesday April 10, 2012 at home. Born in Chester to Thomas M. Sr. and Elizabeth Keating Stephens Cooke. Reared and educated in the Linwood section of Lower Chichester, he attended the Linwood Elementary School and Chichester High School, graduating with the class of 1969.
Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Viet Nam stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was employed as a postal clerk with the U. S. Postal service for 30 years in Boothwyn before his retirement. Earlier he served as a part-time policeman with the Lower and Upper Chichester and Bethel Townships Dept. for ten years. After his retirement Tom drove a School bus for the Chichester school district for six years. An active member and past president of the Chichester Alumni Band. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
In addition to his parents he was also pre-deceased by his step-father James R. Cooke. Survivors: His wife of 37 years Linda M. Garris Stephens; son Thomas M. Stephens III of Marcus Hook; 2 daughters Stacy Reale of Drexel Hill and Kelly Stephens at home; sister Linda M. Schlack of Aston Twp.; 2 grand-daughters.
Funeral Service will be 2 PM Monday at the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood. Calling Sunday evening after 7 PM and Monday after 1 PM at the funeral home.
