Theresa L. Wood – 1/1/2023

January 5th, 2023

Theresa L. Francisco Wood, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of the Boothwyn section of Upper Chichester, an accomplished baker and cook, passed away peacefully Jan. 1 at Seasons Hospice Christiana Wilmington. She was 96.

Born in Marcus Hook, Mrs. Wood grew up in the Linwood section of Lower Chichester. She was a resident of Boothwyn for 41 years before moving to Boynton Beach, Fla. in 1988. Mrs. Wood lived in Newark, Del. from 2006 until 2018 when she became a resident of Foulk Manor South, then Forwood Manor, both in Wilmington.

Mrs. Wood enjoyed cooking, especially Italian cuisine. She spent many hours in the kitchen whipping-up such delicious dishes as homemade spaghetti, gnocchi, ravioli, wedding soup, and desserts including biscotti, pizzelle and Italian rum layer cake.

Mrs. Wood had been a longtime member of the old Immaculate Conception Church in Marcus Hook, and its sodality. She enjoyed singing, but her greatest joy was being with her family.

She was the widow of Paul Wood, who died in 1973. Mrs. Wood was also preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Camillo Francisco, her brothers, Dominic and Thomas Francisco, and her sister, Angeline Lundgren.

  1. Pauletta, so sorry for this sad news. Even though we all believe that God is wise in when our days are numbered to be our last. Still, regardless of the circumstances, when you lose a mother it is a loss you will not forget. My prayers are with you for peace and positive memories of your childhood perhaps. You are a special person with many friends. Blessings and you will again have joy. JAnet Miller
