Stephen G. Harman, Sr.

Stephen G. Harman Sr., a resident of Upland, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 23rd. He was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1946. Stephen had an accomplished career, starting with his service in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked at MAI for over 20 years until their closing.

Stephen had a passion for driving and spent many years working for KQT. He enjoyed being on the road and embraced the freedom it provided. Outside of work, Stephen had a number of interests that brought him joy. He was a lover of cats and took great pleasure in caring for them. Watching and feeding birds brought him peace and he found solace in collecting and discussing trains. Avid camper and traveler, Stephen embarked on numerous tours and made lasting memories along the way. Above all, his family held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the time he spent with them.

Stephen’s dedication to helping others was evident through his involvement as a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was committed to shaping young minds and guiding them towards becoming responsible and compassionate individuals. Stephen deeply valued the importance of mentorship and positively impacted the lives of those he encountered.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Stoy and Irene Harman, his son Robert Vincent Harman, and the mother of his children, Roberta Simcox, and recently his sister, Cookie Albany, with whom he lived in his final years. He is also survived by his children Dorlisa Harman of Chester, PA, Stephen and Rebecca Harman of Lexington, SC, Colleen Walker of Upland, PA, Neal J. Harman of York, PA, and Andrew and Amanda Harman Sr. of Brookhaven, PA. Stephen leaves behind a loving legacy in his grandchildren: Cody Harman, N. Austin Harman, Mallory Harman, Weston Harman, Madison Hahn, Austin Zeger, Chase Koontz, Mason Koontz, Christopher L. Harman, William J Harman, Lucas W.G. Harman, Andrew Harman Jr, Aaliyah Harman, Ava Harman, Armani Harman, and great-granddaughter Andrea Harman. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters Deborah Harman and Holly Studinzki.

Stephen G. Harman Sr. will be remembered as a caring, hardworking, and dedicated individual. His kindness and generosity will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services held on September 11th 2023 at 2:30 pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.  Memorial to be held at a later date.
