Shelly A. Ottinger, 49, of Upper Chichester passed away on October 8th, 2025, at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Shelly was raised and educated in Brookhaven. She was a graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Millersville University. Shelly was most recently employed at BPG International as a Senior Marketing Manager for the past eleven years. Prior to that, she also worked at Zenith and Danco corporations.
Shelly served as both a committee member and den mother for the Boy Scouts of America. Her happy place was her home in Bethany Beach, DE where she loved to sit in her favorite chair, with her feet up and look out at the bay and beautiful sunsets. She loved taking camping trips with her family and friends. Shelly rarely missed soccer, baseball, basketball, or rugby games where she built many lasting friendships. She also loved all of her friends at BPG who became like a second family to her. She was a great party planner. She loved making Easter egg hunts for the kids and adults alike. She even planned her own 40th birthday party, ending the day with an ice cream truck to her house. More than anything else, Shelly loved to spend time with her family, especially her husband, Glenn, and two sons, Zachary and Chase. Her family will miss the Sunday dinners which always ended in lively discussions. She touched everyone with her infectious smile and caring nature. She never complained about her personal battle with cancer. She was a true warrior.
She is predeceased by her Paternal grandparents, Alec and Alice Walklett; maternal grandparents, Ed and Mae Smith; uncle, David Walklett; aunt, Janice Oropeza; cousin, Leah Baldwin.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Ottinger; sons, Zachary and Chase Ottinger; parents, Alec and Terri Walklett; sister, Christy Stokel (Josh), and their children, Emily and Samantha; brother, Dan Walklett (Bridget); aunt, Charlotte Baldwin (William); cousins, Karen Lasky (Collin), Bill Baldwin (Bridget), Melissa Baldwin, Ed Baldwin (Erin), Scott Hastings (Heather), and Heather Hastings (Tony); sister-in-law, Nancy Broomall (Emanuel), and their children, Manny Broomall, Jr. (Anna) and Vicky Hanna (Karl); brother-in-law Jim Ottinger (Anna) and their children James and Jeremy Ottinger; brother-in-law, Mike Ottinger (Mari), and their children Diana Hancock, Megan Senchishin, Timothy Ottinger, and Amanda Ottinger.

Glenn, Zach and Chase…I was so saddened to hear about Shelly. I am very sorry. Shelly was a good friend. I’m not sure if you remember me. I worked with Shelly at Danco and Zach and my son Ryan went to Terry’s house together while we worked. Our sincerest condolences to you and your family. Chris Corson and family
