Richard Kanode “Dick” Whitmore 87, passed away Wednesday, September 23rd 2015. Born in Keymar, Maryland March 17th 1928, Dick lived in Lima PA before moving to Media. He joined the Coast Guards in 1945. After the service, he worked at Ford Motor Company in Chester PA where he became the youngest Forman at the age of 27 in 1955. He retired from PECO with 25yrs of service. Dick was a 3rd degree Mason.
He loved watching movies, especially westerns and anything about the Civil War. He also loved to drive his “Merc” to Maryland where he was born. His passion was making table top wishing wells from his own design, never selling them always giving them away.
He also loved going on golf cart rides, playing the organ and watching Lawrence Welk. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Truman & Dollyne Whitmore; Son Randy Whitmore; Brother, Revelle Whitmore; Sister MaryJane Whitmore Schork.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Jessie) of Florida, Steven (Maridel) of Springfield PA, Sandra Keller (Michael) of Pottstown Pa, Kim Barrowclough (David) of Millsboro De, Wendy Booth of Marcus Hook PA; His lady friend “Lolly” Lillian DeLuca; Brothers Robert Whitmore of Aston, Truman Whitmore of Garnet Valley; Sisters, June Picciano of Media, Joan Madigan of Oxford; 14 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren; plenty of Wonderful Nieces & Nephews.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 12pm at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St. Linwood, Pa. Friends and family are invited to call from 11am-12pm at the funeral home. Burial is private.
