Margaret “Chris” Christine Smith age 78 of Linwood PA passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and has reunited with her loving husband Ervin J Smith Sr. in the kingdom of heaven on August 21, 2025. Margaret was born in Erie, PA and grew up in Southwest Philadelphia where she graduated from West Catholic High School in 1966.
Margaret married Ervin in 1967 and continued to reside in Philadelphia until 1975 when they moved to Highland Gardens in Chester PA where she helped run the snack bar and was president of the women’s auxiliary for Chester’s West Little League. Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed playing with her dog Spanky, painting ceramics, crocheting, playing bingo, watching her husband shoot darts, listening to country music and watching her favorite football team the Raiders especially when they played her families’ rival teams. She was the daughter of the late Donald W Paterson Sr and Irene M (Truckson) Paterson. She is also the sister to the late Donald W Paterson Jr, David P Paterson, Rose M (Paterson) Miles, and John J Paterson. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her four children and their spouses Ervin Jr (Maria), Donna (Joseph), John “Jay” (Tina), Theresa (David). Margaret has 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren all whom she loved spending time with and celebrating every milestone they accomplished. She also enjoyed having cookouts with her children and going to school activities and sporting events to cheer her grand babies on. Though she has departed this world, Margaret lives on in the hearts and minds of her loving family, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Thursday August 28, 2025, from 9:00am until 10:00am at Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St, Linwood, PA 19061. Ceremony will be held at the funeral home at 10:00am followed by interment at Lawn Croft Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Margaret Smith at Amedisys Hospice Care

Still can’t believe it. You were the Best Aunt/Godmother a girl could ask for. I will forever cherish the memories we have shared. I know your pain and suffering is no more. You are finally reunited with Uncle Erv. Please watch over us all especially my Cousins. Until we meet again RIP Aunt Chrissy I love you
Chris was my cousin and she was very sweet to everyone. She loved her kids and grandkids with her whole Heart. Rest easy Chrissy, go be with your Erv ❤️
