Leon W. Baynes, 85, passed away Saturday evening, November 20, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home in Linwood.
A native of Upland, he is the son of the late Mary and Thomas Baynes. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, including the invasion of Normandy. A retired member of Painters Local 921, he also belonged to the Upland Fire Company and Upland Athletic Club.
He spent his final 36 years in Linwood where he was devoted to his family and dogs.
He was predeceased by brothers Louis, Thomas, James, William, Theodore, Edward and Raymond; and sisters Kathryn Worrell, Ellen Moser and Esther DeMarco.
Survivors: Wife of 61 years, Louise Love Baynes; daughter Dianna (Joe) Swavy of Aston; grandchildren Jody (Amanda) Swavy of Bridgeport, Conn., and Shannon (Tony) Fareno of East Fallowfield; great-grandson Ryan Fareno; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation and service: Wednesday November 24 from 10-11 a.m. at Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood, Pa. Burial will follow at Upland Baptist Church Cemetery, Upland, Pa.
