Lawrence J. Coyle passed away peacefully on 10/4/2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born at home in Chester, PA on July 20, 1936, he was a graduate of St, James High School. He proudly served in the US Air Force. He retired from Westinghouse in 1995 as a project engineer for the power generation division.
He was an avid golfer and member of the Brandywine Country Club where he was once a caddie as a young boy. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and hiking at his family cabin in Lycoming County, PA. He was most proud of his family and cherished time spent with them. He enjoyed attending sporting events of his children and grandchildren and was a true Eagles and Phillies fan.
Lawrence was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joseph Coyle; brothers, Thomas, and Joseph; brother-in-law, James Doyle.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Julie (Losak) Coyle; Children, Christine Gardner (Phil), Catherine Coyle, Lawrence Coyle (Susan), Lori Mayhew (Kevin), and Jenny Zeleniski (Jim); grandchildren, Philip (Megan), Katelyn (Andrew), Brian Gardner, Christopher Kelly, Joey and Emily Coyle, Chad, Kelsey, and Jenna Mayhew, Grace, Kaylee, and Carly Zeleniski; sister, Marie Doyle; sister-in-law, Mary McLaughlin Coyle; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 12th at 11am at the Church of the Holy Child on Naamans Rd. in Wilmington, DE. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 10-11am in Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware at Delaware Epilepsy & Seizure Help (efde.org).
The family would like to thank Bayada Hospice whose support in the past year has been appreciated and invaluable, especially Sandi Mis, Mark Figgs, Yasmeena Brown.

I had the pleasure of working with Larry at Westinghouse for 13 years until he retired. He was a great colleague. My condolences to his entire family.

Had a mini Stroke recently and lost strength in one leg doing Physical Therapy couple times a week and improving

On April 21, 2024, the Alumni Association will remember Lawrence at their annual Memorial Mass at St. Madeline’s Church in Ridley Park, PA. May he rest in peace!
