Kenneth R (Joe) Cox, 76 of the Boothwyn section of Upper Chichester, died January 10, 2010 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland after a brief illness. He was born in Pulaski, Co., VA to Roy and Esther Cox before moving to Boothwyn as a young man. He attended Boothwyn High School and graduated with the class of 1950. He has been a resident of the Township ever since.
A Lab Technician for the Sun Oil Co. in Marcus Hook for 37 years before retiring in 1993. He also owned and operated C & D Construction Co. in Boothwyn for 15 years. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
A man who was devoted to his home and family. He enjoyed helping construct the Christmas display at Holy Saviour every year and he was also an avid golfer. The time he treasured the most was with his grandchildren.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Milnes Cox. Two daughters, Catherine Cox Hangholt of Glen Mills and Christine Cox Condiles of Wayne. Four grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his brother Roy Cox, Jr. who died in 1984.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Thursday at Holy Saviour Catholic Church, Linwood. Burial will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park, Concord. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday at the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood.
