Joseph W. Charles, 45 years old, passed away suddenly May 4, 2008 at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland. Born and raised in Lancaster to JoAnn DiBattista Book and the late Elwood Book. Joseph was a resident of Marcus Hook for the past 6 years previously residing in Lancaster for most of his life.
He was a veteran of the US Army and he served in Germany, and received the Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman Qualification Badge.
He was employed as a truck driver for the past 2 years with Blevins Trucking in Clayton DE. He was an avid boater, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, enjoyed playing the drums, drawing and painting. Joseph also was a loving and devoted husband and loved spending time with his family, and his dog Holly.
He was predeceased by his father Elwood Book. He is survived by his wife of 6 years Michele A. Charles, nee Buckley, step daughter Jonette Brockway of Marcus Hook, son Todd Charles of Lancaster, and daughter Kari Charles of Marcus Hook, 1 sister Sharon Fisher of Lancaster and 2 granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Thursday 8pm Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood, calling at the funeral home 6-8pm, burial private.
