Joseph “Reds” Bernard, Sr., 89 of Boothwyn, formerly of Aston passed away on Monday, November 9th, 2015 at his home. He was born in Chester to the late Michael and Stella Bernard. He worked at Witco Chemical for 45 years. He also worked for Rick’s Sheds in Aston for 20 years.
Reds was a veteran of the United States Navy with whom he served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WWII. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing. He was an avid fan of the Eagles and Phillies. He also enjoyed trips to the beach.
He is predeceased by his Wife, Virginia Bernard who died in 2014. He is also predeceased by 7 siblings. He is survived by his children, Joseph Bernard, Jr. (Pat), Robert Bernard, David Bernard (Kim) and Susan DeFonzo (James); Sisters, Mary DeFrank and Barbara Harper; Brother, Michael Bernard; 6 grandchildren and 11 great Grandchildren.
His funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, November 13th at 11am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood, Pa. Friends and family are invited to call from 10am-11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery.
