Joseph F. Ward, 62, of Hollywood, FL., formerly of the Twin Oaks section of Upper Chichester, passed away on Thursday, August 30th, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born to Joseph and Eileen Ward. Joe was reared and educated in Upper Chichester where he was a graduate of St. James High School with the class of 1968. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He later went on to earn a Master’s Degree from the University of Baltimore and a Ph.D., ABD from Florida International University.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Political Risk Analyst in New York during the 1980’s. He later worked as a professor of economics for more than 20 years, most recently at Broward College in Florida.
Joe enjoyed going to the horse races, reading classical literature, watching old films and music and dancing.

He was predeceased by his Mother, Eileen Ward, who died in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Ruthann Leone Ward; Daughter, Ann Margaret Ward; Father, Joseph A. Ward; Sisters, Ellen Marie Crowell; Margaret A. Chaga; Brothers, Thomas J. Ward, Francis L. Ward and Edward J. Ward; Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 6th at 11am at Holy Saviour Church in Linwood, Pa. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday evening after 5:30 and again on Thursday Morning from 9:30-10:30 am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, Pa. Entombment will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
