John J. Whelan, 84, formerly of Linwood, passed away on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. He was born in Chester to the late Frank and Mary Vernon Whelan. John worked and lived in the area for his entire life. He enjoyed summers spent in Cape May. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean Conflict.

He was predeceased by 6 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Anna McLaughlin Whelan. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, March 1st at 11am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA. Friends and family are invited to call from 10am-11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
