Joan T. Chiappetta, 77, of Upland died on Friday, December 24 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center. She was born in Upland to Charles and Evelyn Lewis. She was reared and educated in Ridley Township, where he was a graduate of Ridley High School with the class of 1950.
She worked as the lunch lady at the Cerebral Palsy Foundation at the George Caruthers Memorial School in Swarthmore, PA. She was also known as the “Candy Lady” at Chichester High School where she ran the school store for many years.
Joan loved to spend time at her beach house where she enjoyed fishing, crabbing and doing yard work. What she enjoyed most, however, was time spent with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph M. Chiappetta, who died in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqualine Donaldson of Linwood; 1 Sister, Evelyn Morroni of Brookhaven; 2 Brothers, John Lewis of Ridley Township and Charles Lewis of Delaware; 2 Grandchildren, Mark S. Perry Jr. and Amanda M. Perry of Linwood. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and others whom she considered her children.
His funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 31 at 10:30am at Immaculate Conception of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marcus Hook, PA. Friends and family may call from 9:30am-10:30 am at the church. Burial will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA.
