James W. Garris, 83, of Wilmington DE passed away on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. He was born in Chester to the late William and Hilda Garris. He was raised and educated in the Twin Oaks section of Upper Chichester. James was a graduate of Chichester High School. He went on to work for Container Research Corporation for many years until retirement. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf and going to the casino.
He was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte Garris (2009); son, James W. Garris; brothers, David, and William Garris.
He is survived by his daughters, Robin Parker (David), and Sherry Garris; grandchildren, Brandon (Sam), Ashley, and Corbin; sister, Linda Stephens; many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20th at 11:30 am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, PA. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 10:30-11:30. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the ALS Hope Foundation ALS Hope Foundation (alshf.org)
May our Lord Jesus comfort Robin, Sherrie and his whole family. Jim was a fine husband, father and cousin. I will miss him and cherish the time we spent together in our younger years. Grace and Peace.
