James T. Sullivan, 88, of Wilmington, DE died on Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to Dennis and Mary Sullivan in Chester where he was reared and educated. He was a graduate of St. James High School with the first graduating class in 1942. James worked as an operator for the BP oil company until his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of the Phillies. He also enjoyed reading medical journals and nature magazines. He actively supported and practiced conservation of nature. What he valued most, however, was his faith and his family.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Noonan, Julia Kozubal and Anna McIlhenney; brothers, John Sullivan and Dennis Sullivan. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Elizabeth Sullivan; loving children, Thomas Sullivan and his wife, Carlyn, Denise Brazell and her husband Tom, Brian Sullivan and his wife Sandi, Dawn McCreary and her husband Jim, Beth Flynn and her husband Joe; Sisters, Nora Cohee, Patsy Erdlen and Peg Sullivan; 11 Grandchildren, Corcoran Sullivan, Ryan Brazell, Ethan Brazell, Bevin Westfield, Maegan Behm, Jeffrey Sullivan, Sara Sullivan, Katie Sullivan, Emily Flynn, Mallory Flynn and Joseph Flynn; 6 great-grandchildren.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 17th at 12pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE. Friends and family are invited to call from 11am-12pm in church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
