Grace C. Montella, 89, formerly of Marcus Hook passed away on Tuesday, August 31st. She was born and raised in Marcus Hook to the late Louis and Mary Lombardo Montella. Grace was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marcus Hook, PA. She was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. Grace spent many years as a volunteer at the Center for the Blind in Chester. She also volunteered her time at Crozer Hospital in the Silberman Center. Grace was known for her baking and loved to make arts and crafts. She also spent many hours babysitting for her nieces and nephews. She loved to spend time with children and was devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Marie Newsom; brother, Andrew “Sonny” Montella. She is survived by her sisters, Josephine “Gigi” Laird and Lois J. Jacono (Vito); nephews, James Laird, Steven Newsom, Joseph Jacono, Mark Newsom, Louis Jacono, Vito Jacono, Jr.; nieces, Mary Ann Holt, and Jackie Meekins; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; special cousin, ReeRee.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 4th at 1pm at Immaculate Conception of Lourdes Church in Marcus Hook. Friends and family are invited to call from 12:15-1pm in church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, PA. In lieu of flowers, Donations in her name can be made to the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired 100 W. 15th St. Chester, PA 19013.
