Geraldine B. (Gerri) Sherman (nee Shaw)

Geraldine B Sherman “Gerri,” nee Shaw died peacefully at Manor Care Rehab on October 24, 2015 in Wilmington, DE at the age of 72. Gerri fought for several years and ultimately beat Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with a successful bone marrow transplant.

Gerri is survived by her children, Bill Sherman Jr. (Eileen) Of Wilmington, DE, Janine Mack (Steve Litwa) of Garnet Valley, PA, Kyle Sherman (Suzanne) of Boothwyn, PA, with whom she lived, along with a Brother Ed Shaw, Wilmington, DE and Twin Sister Jacqueline London, Newark, DE. She is preceded in death by her parents George H. Shaw and Ethel Newlin, Brother George Shaw and beloved grand-dog Reilley. Gerri is also survived by her grandchildren who were the highlight of her life Luke, Liam, Jill, Finn and grand-dog Roxy.

A Delco resident her entire life, Gerri was born on May 23, 1943 in Chester, PA. She graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School in Moylan, PA in 1962. She worked for Pilot Air, Clement Communications and the Old Chester Heights Food Market.

Gerri was an accomplished cook and even though her renown recipe for Kyle’s chicken fingers is was published in Chichester Parent Org cook book, she still often found time to eat out with her son Kyle and one of her second favorite daughter in-laws, Suzanne.

She was a Dedicated, Witty and Loving Grandmother who enjoyed going to all her grandchildren’s games and events. She especially enjoyed buying them eclectic birthday and Christmas gifts just so she could hear and see their reaction “Ohh Mom Mom.”

Gerri enjoyed simple things, cheese, crackers, shrimp and chubby grand-dogs. She was a passionate porch sitter who loved fresh air and liked knowing what was going on “bird watching.” She also enjoyed a good weather report. Gerri enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles, a dry sense of humor and most of all, her friends. She especially cherished her dear, lifelong and dedicated girlfriends “Butch,” Kathy, Sandy and Frena who spent time with her and shuffled her to her many doctor appointments.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28th at 11am at St. John Fisher Church in Boothwyn, Friends and family are invited to call from 9:30am-11am in Church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
