Frederick Franklin Douglas, Jr., 83, of Essington,PA passed away on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023.  He was a well-known musician in Essington and Tinicum Township.  He also worked as a custodian, bartender, and painter.  In his younger years, he traveled with Bill Haley’s Comets, and Lloyd Arnold & the Rocking Drifters.  A long-time resident of Delco, Mr. Douglas worked with various bands and traveled the world as a musician.  Later on, he played locally in the Delaware County area.  He was a 40 year lifetime member of the musician’s union, local 484.  He was also a member of the VFW post 1921 in Chester.

He was the son of the late Frederick, Sr. and Hazel Willoughby Douglas.  He is survived by his sisters, Judy Douglas of Essington, Darlene Douglas Thompson of Huntingdon, PA; brothers, Gene Douglas (Kaye) of Sadsburyville, PA, and David Douglas of Essington.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Lucille Douglas, Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert M. Thompson.

His funeral service and burial will be private.
