Dorothy M. Wanner, nee Robinson, passed away November 14, 2008 at home with her family by her side. Born and raised in Linwood to the late John Joseph and Eleanor Veronica Dugan Robinson, Mrs. Wanner was a resident of Linwood section of Lower Chichester for most of her life, residing with her daughter Sheryn M. Simpers in Garnet Valley for the past 6 years.
Mrs. Wanner graduated from Holy Saviour School and attended Notre Dame High School in Moylan. She spent most of her teen years in Winter Park FL and finished high school in Florida. She was employed as a nurse at Crozer Hospital retiring in 1986 after 30 plus years.
Mrs. Wanner’s family was very important to her and she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lifelong member of Holy Saviour Parish and worked for the Lower Chichester Republican Party for more than 25 years serving as a committee woman and various other duties with the Republican Party. She loved to travel by car and crossed the United States on family vacations.
She was predeceased by her husband George J. Wanner, Sr., her parents John and Eleanor Robinson and 1 grandson George C. D’Angelis, III. She is survived by her children George J. Wanner, Jr. of Wilmington DE, John J. Wanner, of San Diego, CA, Gary G. (Susan) Wanner of Boothwyn, Steven P. (Donna) Wanner of Norfolk, VA, Richard M. (Jeannie) Wanner of Upper Chichester, Barbara L. Wanner of Wilmington DE, Dorothy A. (Albert) Giampietro of Glen Mills, Sheryn M. (Wayne) Simpers of Garnet Valley, Andrea J. (George) D’Angelis Philaldephia, PA Janet A. (Ron) Tridente of Wilmington, DE and Joan Denise Crowley of Linwood, also survived by 28 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren.
Family and friends invited to her funeral Mass Wednesday 10am Holy Saviour Catholic Church, viewing Tuesday evening after 6 and Wednesday morning 8:30-9:30, Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood; burial Lawn Croft Cemetery.
