Dorothea J. Simons Stanislow, 82 of Lima, Pa. formerly of Aston, died Tuesday December 22, 2009 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center. Born in Queens Valley, Long Island to Joseph and Katherine Tecoske Simons before moving to Wilkes Barre, PA where she was reared and educated. She lived in Aston for 24 years and has been a resident of Fair Acres for the last 12 years.
A woman who devoted her life to her home and family, she was also known for her kindness to people. A former member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Aston. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Survived by three sons, Steven Stanislow of Clayton, DE, Lawrence Stanislow of Wilmington, DE and Robert Stanislow of Linwood. Two daughters Susan Calderaio of Havertown and Karen Smalec of Aston. Two brothers Joseph Simons of W. Wyoming, PA and John Simons of W. Palm Beach, FL. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her grand-daughter Nadia Angel Calderaio.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Concord Rd., Aston. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston. Calling will be from 8:30 to 9:30 Monday at the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood.
