Doris R. Negron

March 15th, 2026

Doris R. Negron, 73, of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, at Riddle Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 12, 2026. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her big personality, her incredible generosity, and for the way she absolutely cherished her children and grandchildren.

Born in Chester, PA, Doris was the only child of John Roden and Dorothy Bundick. She spent her formative years attending St. Robert’s in Chester, followed by Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA. Doris then attended La Salle University, where she majored in Spanish, and spent a year living abroad in Spain as a part of her studies. She would later add a masters degree from Wilmington University.

Doris would meet her love, Wilfred Negron Sr, while they both worked at the Centro San Juan Batista recreational center in Chester; Doris was teaching English to children, and Wilfred was teaching physical education, and helping with the weight program. They would  marry in 1981 and go on to have two sons, Wilfred Jr., and Eric, who would become the centers of their life together. They were known by everyone who knew them for their dedication to each other and the way they loved to dance at social functions or family gatherings. They also loved vacationing together, both alone and with their children, from Mexico to the West Coat to New England.

Doris worked at various jobs over the years, providing for her family by spending time working for the Post Office, Apple Vacations, and other jobs before finally finishing her career at what was known as Delmarva Power for over 25 years, before finally retiring in 2022. Her hard work and commitment allowed her to give her sons every opportunity they could ask for, from family vacations to private education. She was also known at every stop as someone who never hesitated to offer her time, assistance, friendship, and love to whomever crossed paths with her across the years as a coworker, associate, and friend.

Doris went to EVERYTHING for EVERYBODY – graduations, funerals, birthday parties, weddings, etc. It was always so important for her to BE THERE for everyone she cared about, both family and friends, on their important occasions. Doris had a large extended family of her own, but Doris also made everyone she cared about, FEEL LIKE family.

In her later years, Doris gave of her time generously to assist with bingo at the church, the Christmas Bazaar, the DPL Quarter Century Club, and other endeavors. Throughout her employment time, she also supported various company projects and charity fundraisers.

Doris tragically lost her beloved husband, Wilfred in 2006 after nearly 27 years together. But she was fortunate to find love again, when she met Abraham Rios. They enjoyed traveling together to visit family and friends, going to their beach home in Cape May, and going out to eat and vacationing together. In retirement, Doris also enjoyed her various book clubs, helping out with the Notre Dame Alumni Association, and helping the ladies at church make pierogies. She made as much time as possible to meet with the many friends she had to catch up over dinner or a night out.

But Doris’ true joy was her children and grandchildren – they were her entire world, and she gave them anything and everything they needed. She ran from choir rehearsals to football practices, from performances to games. Both Will Jr. and Eric knew that at any moment they could call Mom and she would give whatever she could – whether it was money, advice, time, or a helping hand with the kids, Doris would never say no to her family. Will and Eric gave her 4 grandchildren – Alycia, Carolina, Eric Jr, and Adrian – and Doris loved spending time with all of them. She would make as many of their games and performances as she could, babysit, and spoil them all with anything they asked for. She would add 2 more grandchildren by marriage, Seamus and Jamie, and never hesitated to treat them as if they were her own all along too.

Doris is survived by her 2 sons, Wilfred Jr (Beth), and Eric (Katie), her fiancé, Abraham, her brother David, and her 6 grandchildren – Alycia, Seamus, Carolina, Jameson, EJ, and Adrian. Doris is also remembered fondly by countless friends, family members, and coworkers over the years.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 18 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ward’s Funeral Home, 1459 Market St, Marcus Hook, PA. A second visitation will take place Thursday March 19, 2026 from 10:00 Am to 10:45 AM at St Rose of Lima Church, 1901 Chester Pike, Eddystone, PA, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
