Doris A. Blochowsky, 80 years old, passed away Sunday March 2, 2008 at home with family by her side. Born and raised in Chester, Doris was the last of 14 children of the late William B. and Anna Long Morris. Doris was a longtime resident of Linwood, Lower Chichester.
In her younger years Doris was involved with politics with Lower Chichester and served as judge of elections and was active with the Mickey Vernon Little League. She was employed by Teledyne Wirz for several years until her retirement.
She was well known for her holiday baking and Sunday family dinners, she was a loving and devoted mother grandmother, and great grandmother. Doris fought a longtime battle and was determined to beat her illness right till the end.
She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Blochowsky in 1989, her parents William B. and Anna Morris and 13 siblings. She is survived by her children Stephen W. (Kathryn) Blochowsky of Chester and Mary Ann (Robert) Campbell, of Linwood, longtime companion of 7 years Harry T. Grandel of Winterset Farms DE, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service, Thursday 10am in Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood where calling will be Wednesday 7-9pm and Thursday 9-10am, burial Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.
