Dora L. Gross Volpe, nee Rice, 86 years old, passed away October 11, 2008 at Wayne Center in Wayne PA. Born and raised in Cloverlick, Ky to the late John and Clarinda McKnight Rice, Dora had been a resident of the Marple Twp and Haverford Twp most of her life. She also resided in Linwood section of Lower Chichester.

She was a waitress for many years at the Greenhill Diner in Newtown Square and worked for other restaurants, but started and ended her waitressing at the Greenhill Diner.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She enjoyed cooking and just being a Mom, and all that comes with being a Mom.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Clarinda Rice, her husband Oliver Gross and her husband Charles Volpe, and 2 sisters Rebecca and Myrtle. She is survived by her sons John Gross of Havertown and John Gross of South Orange NJ, 1 brother Henry Rice of Florida, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends invited to her viewing Thursday, 10-11am and service 11am, Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home. Inc., 1459 Market St. Linwood; viewing 10-11am burial Lawn Croft Cemetery.
