Christopher W. Sweeney, 79, of Aston died unexpectedly on Monday, May 28, 2012 at home. He was born in Chester to Christopher and Theresa Sweeney. He was raised and educated in Linwood, where he attended Holy Saviour School and Later Graduated from St. James High School with the Class of 1950.

He worked as a Pipe Fitter for 44 years for the Sun Oil Company until his retirement. Most recently he worked as a service assistant at Longwood Gardens. Christopher was a friend of Bill W. since 1983. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Aston where he participated in the Project Hope program. He was also a member of the St. James Alumni Choir. He organized blood drives for the American Red Cross and was active in the United Way Foundation. He also was an avid golfer and bowler.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Kevin Sweeney. He is survived by his Long-time companion of 28 years, Jacqueline Gally of Mt. Laurel, NJ. 3 Daughters, Regina Focht (Bruce), Maureen Nichols (Glenn), Dawn Hessil (Dave); 3 Sons, Christopher Sweeney, Terrance Sweeney and Brian Sweeney (Shannon); 3 Step-Daughters, Kathryn Fields (John), Carole Schaefer (Gary), Peggy McLaughlin (Joe); 3 Step-sons, Charles Gally (Sue), Mark Gally (Donna), Christopher Gally (Abbe); 1 Brother, Joseph Sweeney; 1 Brother-in-Law, Charlie Martin; 26 grandchildren.

His funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 4th at 10:00am at St. Joseph’s Church in Aston. Friends and Family are invited to call on Sunday evening from 6pm -8pm and Monday morning from 8:30am-9:30am at the Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home 1459 Market St. Linwood, Pa. Burial will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Linwood, Pa.
