Cecilia Marie Wolanin

Cecilia Marie Wolanin of Long Neck DE and formerly of Trainer PA passed away January 4, 2009 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes DE. Born and raised in Kingston PA, she was one of five children of the late Victor and Nettie Gozdiskowski Novitski.

Mrs. Wolanin was a graduate of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Grade School and Kingston High School in Kingston, PA. After high school, she was employed as a Floor Supervisor at Laros Manufacturing in Kingston PA. In her single years, she enjoyed attending local Polka dances. Cecilia met her husband to be Emil in 1957, they married on June 14, 1958, and have shared more than 50 loving years together.

Mrs. Wolanin was a resident of Trainer from 1961- 2006 and also owned a vacation home with her husband in Long Neck DE since 1980. They made Long Neck their permanent residence in 2006. Mrs. Wolanin worked as a telephone operator, retiring from AT&T in Wilmington after many years of dedicated service.

Cecilia was a member of St. Hedwig’s Parish in Chester PA where she was involved with the CYO and various church organizations. Cecilia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. She also found great enjoyment visiting the DE and NJ casinos with her husband and walking along the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk with her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents Victor and Nettie Novitski and siblings Victor Novitski and Bernard “Bernie” Novitski. She is survived by her husband Emil S. Wolanin, and their 3 children Christina (Kevin) Wolanin-Hearn of Milton DE, Stephen J. (Kathleen) Wolanin of Sparks Nevada, and Emil J. (Natalie) Wolanin of Germantown MD; 5 grandchildren – Keith, Stephen, Erica, Kelsey and Bradley; 2 siblings – sister Florence Sambo and brother Raymond Novitski both of Kingston, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to her funeral Mass Saturday 10am at Holy Saviour Catholic Church and to her viewing Friday after 6pm and Saturday 8:30-9:30am at Joseph A. Ward Funeral Home. Inc., 1459 Market St., Linwood PA with burial at Lawn Croft Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bernadine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, 450 St. Bernadine Street, Reading PA 19607.
