March 26th, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Audrey Ann Hershey, who returned to her Heavenly Father, on March 23, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 15, 1939, in Somerset, PA to Ross Stern and Violet (Miller) Stern. She moved to West Grove, PA in 1962 and raised her family there. She worked at various jobs in her early career and eventually went to work at Jennersville Regional Hospital, retiring after 25 years of service.
Audrey was known for her love of the color purple, watching the birds in her many feeders, crewing for her friend’s hot air balloons, sharing her home with stray cats, driving her convertibles and enjoying a warm cup of coffee with family and friends. She spent many years walking alongside others through life’s trials encouraging them to take, “one day at a time”.
She loved spending time with her family and at some point, in their lives she cared for most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while her children pursued their own careers. And every summer she would return with her immediate family to her hometown of Somerset, PA to reunite with the friends and family of her youth. You could find her every July 4th under “the big tree” in her backyard hosting a safe space of celebration and gathering that drew people from near and far.
Audrey’s bright grin and her warm greeting of “Hello Doll” were reflections of the light she carried, a light that shone from a life lived in quiet trust of God’s greater plan—one filled with blessings for her and her generations that follow.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Violet Stern and her brother James Stern.
She is lovingly survived by her life partner, F. Scott Greenfield; her children Robert Hershey (Linda), James Hershey (Audrey), and Terry Hershey; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit.
Audrey chose to be cremated and there will be a private celebration of life held with the family.
