Alfred J. “Ike” Beam, Sr., 81, of N. Wilmington, DE formerly of Chester died Monday March 8th, 2010 at Parkview Nursing Home Wilmington. Born in Hunterdon, NJ. He was reared and educated in Chester. He owned and operated the Chester Cab Co. for over 40 years during which time he also purchased the Yellow Cab Co. in Chester running both of the Company’s for the last 10 years in business. He retired in 1995.

He enjoyed horse racing, classic movies and watching football. What he enjoyed most was time spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son Alfred J. “Ike” Beam, Jr. who died in 2009. Survived by his wife of years Shirley T. Baumgart Beam. One son Gary J. Beam, Sr. of Linwood. Five grandchildren and Three great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be 1pm Thursday at the Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood where there will be calling from 12 to 1. Burial will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park, Concord Twp.
