William J. Dodds, Sr., 86, of Upper Chichester passed away on June 26, 2024 at his home. He was born and raised in the Garden City section of Nether Providence to the late Edward and Doris Dodds. He attended Nether Providence Highschool where he played football. Bill worked for many years at Chippys/Concord Beverage where he was a proud member and shop steward of Teamsters Local 830. Later in life, he went on to be a bus driver for the Chichester School District, until his retirement. Bill was a Philly sports fan, especially the Phillies and Eagles. He served as a coach for the Chester West Little League, and later, was also a baseball umpire for many years. Bill was a very good bowler and also enjoyed bingo, fishing, swimming and diving. In fact, Bill, along with his twin brother and best friend, Tommy, were part of the famous diving clowns at Trainer pool. Notably, Bill attended nearly every game, tournament or event of his children, nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, William J. Dodds, Jr.; siblings, Edward Dodds, Jr., Thomas Dodds, Catherine Brower-Contreras, Doris “Cookie” Kelly, Rosemarie Dodds
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Fay Dodds; son, Jeffrey Dodds; sister, Dawn Walls (Butch); many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 8th at 11am at St. John Fisher Church 4114 Chichester Ave. Boothwyn, PA. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 9-11 am in church. Burial will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.
Bill Dodds was my coach with Fisher Tank at Chester West Little League. He was a kind, caring and easy going man who taught me a great deal about the game of baseball and a little bit about life. He’ll be missed…
