Barbara Dougherty (nee’ Brennan), 89, of Swarthmore died June 10th. Known for her kindness and generosity, Barbara was born in Chester and lived in the area her entire life. She was a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Barbara worked at the Intermediate Unit as a teacher’s aide. Her true vocation was caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, daughter Catherine, son-in-law Michael Doyle, parents Martin & Rena Brennan, brothers John & James, and sister Mary Myer.
She is survived by her son George, daughters Mary Doyle, Patricia (Fred) Durst and Elizabeth, brother Martin (Ellen), 5 grandchildren – Martin, Julia, Molly, Bridget, Jack and 4 great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Juliana, Adalaine and Nyah.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 15th at 11am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Fairview Road and Michigan Avenue, Swarthmore, PA. Calling hours will be from 9am to 11am at the church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Woodlyn Fire Company, 228 Fairview Road, Woodlyn, PA 19094.
My deepest sympathy in the passing of your mother. I have always thought highly of her and truly appreciate her kindness and have fond memories of times spent with your family. Although she will be greatly missed, may you find solace in knowing she is with the Lord.

George I am very sorry to hear of your Loss. I know you were a caring, doting son through our many conversations at work. I know her passing will be tough to reconcile but she is in a better place now. I will say a prayer for you and your family today and tomorrow.
