Ruth W. Watkins Emerson, 73 of Chester died Tuesday July 13th at Taylor Hospital, Ridley Park. Born in Taylor, PA to Arthur and Mildred Watkins before moving with her family to Chester where she was reared and educated. She has been a resident of the City her entire life.
A certified ceramic teacher she also owned and operated Ruth's Ceramic Cellar which she ran from her home in Chester for 24 years while also teaching her craft. She was raised in the United Methodist faith and was a woman devoted to her home and family. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years James G. Emerson who died in 2002. Survived by Two daughters Kathy W. Jones of Lexington, TX and Gertrude "Trudy" Berry of Chester. One brother William Watkins of Kingsland, GA. One grandson and one great-grand-daughter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Inurnment service 12noon Monday at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, 2321 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA.
